I don't presume to be an expert when it comes to New York.
For living upstate near the Adirondacks, I've only been to the City a handful of times and until the other weekend hadn't been for fun in at least five years.
But thanks to lovely bloggers, museum's social media posts (and hotel points!) planning a weekend getaway was pretty easy.
We took the train from Boston — a relatively quick 4 hour trip to the city.
Saturday started with an Australian brekkie — a place as good as instagram makes it out to be.
The sun surprised us, so we walked across the park to the Met — where you can easily lose 3 days!
With a sunny afternoon we strolled through Central Park some more and the upper east side, taking in the sights.
We had dinner with a friend and met others for drinks after an ice cream stop.
Dinner at Ribalta
Sunday morning we opted for a real NY bagel before checking out the Tolkien exhibit at the Morgan Library.
This was the real reason we came to the city — to see this exhibit — I could have stayed for hours!
Before our train that evening we stopped at a friends', walked around the upper east side and grabbed an aperitif.
Our trip back to the hotel meant going through Grand Central — a magical way to end our weekend.
